Shell Collection Rings

New rings from the Shell Collection are now available!

Our shimmering shell ring has a gray rose cut diamond set in 14k solid gold. Everyone’s favorite beachside icon is captured in the Shimmering Shell series. The simple nod to a half-shell is both playful and abstract.

An beautiful Australian opal set in a 14k solid knife edge gold ring. Called the “Eye Stone,” opal invites in light energy, creating optimism and enthusiasm for those who wear it. More creativity and fewer inhibitions can bring more daily joy.

6 diamonds flush set in a 14k gold knife edge ring handcrafted for a goddess. The ring is timeless and can be worn alone for an elegant look or put this eye-catching diamond ring in your existing stack.

Shell Collection

Inspired primarily by a single conch, the Shell Collection combines the strength and protective nature of a shell with the playful side of the beach. Where the ocean meets the sand, imagination and inspiration dance between textures, forms and shapes.

Our newest line embraces this place of opportunity with signature rings, earrings and necklaces that are light in presentation but heavy in spirit. Some are adorned with meaningful gems and stones, each of which offer healing powers for the wearer. From protectiveness to vulnerability, the Shell Collection proves that it’s on the inside—and outside—that counts.

Making of the Stars and Moon Ring

Wedding bells are ringing, and we’re ready to debut our own wedding ring. We’re proud to introduce the first piece in our WED engagement series. It features two Canadian-mined and conflict-free half moon champagne diamonds with a row of graduated pave-set diamonds through the middle all framed in a 14-karat recycled gold band. Since every engagement has a good story, here’s the one behind this particular ring.

It was love at first sight when I found the perfect diamonds for my vision at the Tucson Gem Show. Inspired by their shape and character, I created the setting around them.

After we agreed on a shared vision, Hayden carved the ring out of wax. This is the how a ring starts.

Once the shape is set, it’s sent to the caster where the 14-karat recycled gold was poured to make a band. We’ll call that the third date.

The half moon diamonds are beveled, and that means the center diamonds must be graduated in size. Here, we’re getting ready to set the center stones and that’s what produces an elegant arc. After the stones are all set, the ring is ready to rock! Now it just needs a forever home.

The next step involved lots of conversation with my partner in this endeavor, Hayden. He’s the one who executes on exquisite craftsmanship (read: lots of tiny hand movements!), so we had to make sure we were on the same page.

Sketches

Sketches are a mere reminder of a detailed picture in my mind.  Designing these engagement rings I like to maintain organic forms while including an element of surprise and mystery yet keeping it minimal– all good qualities to have in a marriage.

Series: Meet the Makers

At Colby June, we strive for the most ethical and sustainable way. We are always searching for like minded brands to support. This is the first post in a series on other brands and how they inspire us. By sharing the companies that inspire us, we hope that it inspires you to take a step towards supporting slow fashion and independent makers.

Brass Clothing

Jay Adams and Katie Doyle launched Brass in September 2014 with a small run of 5 dress styles. They were at a point in their lives where they could no longer stomach fast-fashion. Their careers had progressed and they needed to look more professional. They were also becoming increasingly aware of the toll that disposable fashion takes on our planet and people’s lives. While they started Brass to satisfy their own needs, it’s their customer base of smart, strong, passionate women who keep them going.  Moreover, they are forming close, lasting relationships with their factories that are motivated by trust, goodwill, and a devotion to creating an excellent product.

Take a look at some of my favorite pieces and some beautiful pieces that are coming soon!

A Union of Craft and Design

Our first collaboration with Hayden Mayer of HM Jewelry was a complete success!  We designed and crafted an engagement ring for a young couple.  The minimal yet classic ring is a rose cut diamond solitaire with a delicate fishtail pave band.  This recent collaboration has inspired an engagement ring line pairing Colby June’s nature inspired aesthetic with HM Jewelry’s exceptional craftsmanship.  Images below are from the collaborative process between Colby June, Hayden, and our inspiring clients.

Colby June and HM Jewelry will be unveiling WED an engagement ring line

in the spring of 2017.
